The Great War: Sources and Evidence covers the period in Europe from the 1890s to 1918. It looks at the origins of the war, the experiences of the soldiers on the Western Front and the impact of war on the civilians on the home fronts.

The Australian, British and German home fronts are examined in detail and attention is given to changing attitudes throughout the war, the conscription campaigns and the impact of war on art and literature.

The second edition has been extensively revised to reflect current source-based teaching and assessment for senior secondary students. It includes:

• expanded and reorganised historical background on the causes of the war
• reorganised material on the battle front, including a specific examination of the Battle of the Somme
• a complete revision of source-based questions with in-depth development of historical skills and knowledge
• additional photographs, maps and written sources.
