Deviance, reality, and society

What is deviance?
What are the functions of criminal law and criminalization?

What is the social distribution of crime?

What explanations can be offered for how and why people get into crime and pursue criminal careers?

What is the ideological function behind those social processes which make up the criminal justice system and produce official data on crime and criminals?

This book attempts to answer those questions.
